The Leavenworth County Humane Society (LCHS) is located on 1205 Rear North Main Street in Lansing. The building they are using is only temporary while they are raising money to buy property off of Gilman Road. According to their Facebook page, their goal is to improve animal protection laws, help reduce the number of homeless cats and dogs through their spay and neuter services. In the future, LCHS wants to help police with cruelty and neglect cases and planning emergency action for animals in need. LCHS is a no-kill shelter and they have people who foster some of the animals throughout Leavenworth County.
