Three of our University of Saint Mary, women’s track and field team members, qualified for the championship meet this season.
The meet was held February 27th-March 2nd and took place at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. The three athletes include Sophmore triple jumper Jayda Cooper who studies criminology, Junior 5k and 3k runner Brittany White-Dold who studies Biology, and Junior 5k runner Kaitlyn Shoemaker, an exercise science major. Jayda Cooper received 17th in the long jump, and Brittany White-Dold received 23rd in the 5k an 10th in the 3k. Kaitlyn Shoemaker reflected on this past season, “I am just out here doing what I love and wearing a jersey for a school that I am proud to attend. I continue to strive towards my God-Given potential while representing USM to the best of my ability.”
Kaitlyn placed 6th in her 5k race and has become the first Saint Mary female All-American to run in the 5k.
Ramie Churchill is a sophomore at the University of Saint Mary who is studying Digital Communications.
