The University of Saint Mary’s Men’s soccer team came to play today in their home opener against Kansas Christian. The Spires came out on top with a 2-0 win against Kansas Christian, showing exceptional teamwork and playing style.
The first goal was scored by #2 Osvaldo Reyes when he shot the ball just over the goal keepers’ head to roll in for a Spires goal, late in the first half. The second goal, to put a nail in the coffin, was scored by #19 Sabino Lozano whose kick went right over the wall of defenders and slid in for a Saint Mary’s goal.
Head coach Derek Mazeitis had this to say about his team’s performance, “This was a great team to open up with this season but they showed us that we have a lot of work to do if we want to be successful later on in season, but it is still a great win.” It’s safe to say that the men’s soccer team is ready to make improvements on their squad so they can have more victories like the one tonight.
