The men’s soccer team played their first game since October of 2020 against Benedictine College on Wednesday night. The Spires fell to the Ravens by a score of 2-0, and seemed to be on their heels all night. The Spires did not crumble so easily, holding onto a 0-0 score late into the first half, then in a split second after a few passes the Raven’s had broken the deadlock with 3:21 left on the clock. Heading into the second half the Spires continued to play tough but could not hold back the Ravens, giving up one more goal 20 minutes into the half. The audio link above is an interview with men’s coach Derek Mazeitis about the outcome of Wednesday night and how the team will respond in the future. The Spires play again this Wednesday at 3pm in Kansas City, Missouri against Avila University.
