Leavenworth Plaza in Leavenworth, Kansas is left destroyed with no particular plan since 2015, the day the demolition of the interior mall began. Leavenworth plaza was first built Leavenworth in 1967; it was an Indoor mall anchored by JC. penny, Montgomery ward, and Safeway. Duckwall-ALCO retail stores were added in 1972.
The Leavenworth plaza mall kept the city going and kept people coming back to the town, according to a hometown native who has been living in Leavenworth for more than 30 years.
People would come and see the bear statues in the mall, according to people who shopped there. Even though Leavenworth plaza kept the community closes, the business inside was all outdated. As time passed, stores in the mall began to close or leave to other locations, and at this time, people around the community of Leavenworth, Kansas, started to go to outdoor malls, which was the most popular thing at that time period. Many would say that legends mall, which was built in April 2006, could have played a big part in why people were more interested in going to outdoor malls at the time.
