As the weather gets warmer, we prepare for the 5th annual Home Run Derby at the University of Saint Mary. On March 29, the USM’s JCOM journalism club is hosting its annual Opening Day Home Run Derby. With help from the honors program and the Center of Justice and Peace, we are able to put on this event. This event showcases the JCOM club and honors program and gives people a chance to see the clubs work in action!
Whether you’re a big fan of baseball, or you barely know the rules, this is an opportunity to gather with fellow students outside of the classroom. The rules are simple; you get five tries to hit a home run, and, if you succeed, you will move on to the next round. There will be prizes awarded to the top three batters. There will also be door prizes for those who choose to wear their favorite team gear!
If you aren’t interested in playing, we would love for you to join us for food and entertainment. We will have ballpark treats available for everyone and we would love to see you come out and enjoy the fun!
