The Saint Mary baseball team’s season finished with a loss to Kansas Wesleyan in their finale.
The McClellan Brothers, sophomores Caleb, and Jordan, headlined the postseason awards, with Caleb being named to the second team and Jordan to the third.
Caleb McClellan lead the team in hits, breaking the school record with 79 hits this season.
Sophomore Jacob Castenada was atop the NAIA saves leaderboard with 10, making it the most in the country.
Though they finished 18-32, the boys started clicking with a little less than a month left in the season, winning seven in a row.
Senior Michael Strube admits he is sad that his playing days are over but knows his teammates are only going to get better.
“Towards the end of the season, we started to get over the midseason slump that we had,” Strube said. “Unfortunately, that slump cost us an opportunity to make it to Great Bend.”
With a lot of great pieces coming back and some new recruits coming in, the Spires plan o being very dangerous in the KCAC for the next few seasons.
