On Friday, September 12th, The University of Saint Mary had fall convocation held in McGuilley at 10:30 am. Many students gathered at 10:05 a.m. in their designated spots throughout Saint Mary buildings. To start off the students walked from Saint Mary Hall all the way to McGuilley in two lines in order from graduate programs all the way down to freshman. Convocation is meant to bring a light to students as they start a new school year. The University of Saint Mary strives to welcome new and old students to find their God-given potential in whatever they do.
Dr. Zacharias spoke about how “uplifting music” is always a great start to her day and the kick off a positive start for the new year. USM senior Ilani Mann said, “It is always a wonderful experience to join in fellowship with my fellow Spires and be welcomed into a new school year in a graceful manner.” Fall convocation is to make the students feel welcomed and special as they begin new challenges; like being a first year spire or starting a new season on the court or field. Either way Saint Mary wants everyone to do their best and spread their light to all.
