Elk Falls is located in Elk County Kansas along the Elk river. It’s a small population town of only about 107-200 people. The county is full of old architecture and old time charm. It’s considered to be the world’s largest living ghost town in the world, according to Kansastravel.org. A woman named Prudence Crandall, became famous for establishing the first black female academy in New England in 1883. She resided in Elk Falls in the last 16 years of her life. We were told the best time to see the falls, is in early May, when there is more water flowing through.
